It was late, we were tired and had just finished looking at several haunted places that were owned by the City of Mississauga, when the city employee asked, “Do you want to see one more?”
There were some grumblings about the time of night it was, but then we all agreed, piled into the vehicles and drove across the city, heading down towards the lake. Soon, we pulled in past two giant gate pillars and a driveway that seemed to go on forever. The house at its end grew large as we approached, I instantly felt a pressure in my chest as if something was watching from those large dark windows.
We parked around a now crumbling and dry fountain and everyone disembarked, the mansion that stood before us was enormous and I could see the splendor it once had, just to the left was an equally large two-story carriage house.

We all stood around in groups, three investigators and several city staff talking about this location. Paul moved to the far end of the building to get a side view, he then called out for me, I was about forty feet from his position and turned to see exactly where he was, bringing my gaze upon a solid black figure, which I mistakenly took for him until I saw Paul behind this figure approximately 20 feet further away. The shadow figure darted off at an unimaginable speed and vanished behind a small tree. We converged on the area but found no further sign of anything. To add to this strangeness, Paul stated he saw it as an all-white figure, as I saw it as all black, as if it was a photonegative. There all of a sudden came gasps from several others back near the front of the building. Looking up we saw someone in the second-floor window, they had the vertical blind pulled back and they were looking down at us, they drew their hand back and the blinds swayed back into position. “Impossible.”
The Security Officer yelled out, because the building alarm showed all secure with its green lights at the front door. He pulled his master key, flung open the door and we all rush into the building. The window in question which we had just seen someone peering down at us stood above the main staircase, there was no floor, nor ledge for anyone to have stood on. The mood changed for the city staff and reluctantly after a search of the building they wanted to get out and away from this property.
Before we left I secured their permission to study this property and did so for the next three years, becoming my 3rd book “Ghosts” An investigation into a true Canadian Haunting. It would only get stranger from here.
