Back to the Mansion and a Reality Check
During the day this remarkable place with its rolling green manicured lawns, unobstructed view of the lake and unequalled privacy is like a dream come true. But that dream turns into a nightmare as the sun sinks below the horizon. As darkness falls the overwhelming feeling of being watched crawls up out of some primeval pit from the back of your brain and takes its place at the forefront of your thoughts. Things move here, shadows swirl around you without source, they are quick and they whisper to themselves.
This was a remarkable three-year investigation of a fascinating haunted property sanctioned by the City of Mississauga. A very weird and wonderful place.
This night truly was a reality check.
It was late one night when the team was working the house and property. I stood on the stone pathway with two other investigators having a break, smoking a cigarette. I saw an interesting angle of the front entrance and I wanted to get a photograph of it, so I dropped my cigarette to the path.
It was very dark with some lighting cast from the surrounding lamp posts, so I could see the orange glow of the heater on my cigarette trailing downwards to the path like a miniature meteorite. Before it hit the ground it simply vanished. John standing next to me exclaimed “Wow.” I guess he had seen it as well. We all took a step back and drew our flashlights and searched an ever-widening circle, we never did find that cigarette.
That experience was extremely odd and I could really do nothing more that evening except focus on what happened. I had to wonder if what we call the material world only exists as an expression or appearance of reality. According to Albert Einstein whose revelation was that observers in relative motion experience time differently: it’s perfectly possible for two events to happen simultaneously from the perspective of one observer, yet happen at different times from the perspective of the other. So, could a spirit which was also focused on that cigarette change the reality of its fall to the path? Meaning could one point of view become a dominant point of view? Could its focus displace the cigarette from one reality in time and space to another, allowing my cigarette to fall through the air in my reality, but land within a completely different reality?
I know that objects within haunted locations are reported to disappear all the time, most however, are said to be found in a different location some time later.
This was one small incident out of hundreds that plagued this place, a very strange place indeed.
