Raised in a haunted house, Richard became fascinated with the paranormal at an early age. In 1979 at the age of 18 he launched The Searcher Group, and it is Canada’s oldest paranormal investigation company.

Our mission is to investigate paranormal activity, develop and conduct experiments for the advancement of parapsychology, research and develop new technologies and theoretic models.  And to provide, free of charge, assistance to people having difficulty with paranormal activity either personally in their home or business. 

Richard has worked in law enforcement, security and surveillance for over 35 years and is a trained investigator. Retired. now, he works closely with Historical Societies and Government Agencies.

Peter Roe, Assistant Director

Peter was invited to join The Searcher Group in 2011 after several months of ‘cutting his teeth’ investigating the buildings and grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition. His fortitude for the work involved, passion for the subject and dedication to professionalism quickly earned him the position of Assistant Director, culminating in leading the team on an experimental 2 1/2 year-long ‘Town Hall Tour’ throughout south-western Ontario. This rewarding and fruitful experience resulted in the release of Peter’s debut book, Haunted Town Halls: From the Case Files of The Searcher Group (Quagmire Press; 2018). 
 
When the home office of TSG relocated in 2017, Peter became the Director of its first subdivision, Mortal Coil Paranormal (MCP), serving the Greater Toronto Area and its outskirts. Peter represented the work of TSG over two seasons of the Travel Channel’s Fear the Woods and has been featured in print, radio and podcast media. He continues to host public speaking engagements on ghost phenomena and field experience, and has co-authored a new, game-changing book with Richard, to be released by Llewellyn Worldwide in 2025.
